Honda Recalling 18,000 Acuras, Hondas in United States

Honda is voluntarily recalling 18,000 Acura RSX compact cars from 2006 and Honda S2000 cars from the 2006 and 2007 model years due to possible issue with the brakes.

Toyota Recalls 240,000 Prius, Lexus Hybrid Vehicles

Toyota announced that it is recalling 242,000 Prius and hybrid Lexus vehicles due to problems with the braking system.

Honda Voluntarily Recalls 46,000 Honda Fit Cars

On April 26 Honda issued a recall for Honda Fit vehicles from the 2012 and 2013 model years, affecting about 46,000 units in Canada and the United States.

According to the AP, “The concerned vehicles may be equipped with a faulty electronic stability control system (ESC) which may be faulty and will result in excessive yaw, or rotation. The excessive yaw rates will consequence in the vehicle’s direction of motion, by causing it to tilt too far prior to the application of the brake via the ESC,” which could result in an accident.

No injuries or accidents have been reported.

Honda dealerships like Northwest Honda, Sims Honda, and Apple Valley Honda will be able to fix the issue in affected vehicles.

Massive Airbag Recall Affects Honda, Toyota, Nissan Vehicles

More than 3.4 million cars are being recalled, including 1.1 Hondas and 1.7 million Toyotas, because airbags on the passenger front airbag needs to be replaced. All of the faulty airbags were manufactured by the same Japanese supplier, Takata Corp.

According to a statement from Honda, “”It is possible that the passenger front airbag inflators in affected vehicles may deploy with too much pressure, which may cause the inflator casing to rupture and could result in injury.”

Honda has reported one occurrence of the malfunction and Toyota has reported five.

The vehicles affected by the recall include 2001-2003 Honda Civics, 2001-2003 Honda CR-Vs, and 2002 Honda Odyssey minivans.

Toyota Recalls FJ Cruisers for Faulty Seatbelt

Toyota announced it is recalling more than 200,000 Toyota FJ Cruiser sport-utility vehicles due to a potential default with in the way their seatbelts were installed.

Toyota Recalls 1.3 Million Vehicles

For two separate defects, Toyota is recalling about 1.3 million vehicles. One recall includes 752,000 Corollas and Corolla Matrixes for airbags that could deploy inadvertently.

The unexpected airbag deployment has caused minor injuries in 18 reported cases, and two accidents were caused by the defect in Japan.

According to this article, “An IC chip in the airbag control unit can malfunction when it receives electrical interference from other parts in the car, causing the airbags to deploy when it is not necessary, Toyota spokesman Naoto Fuse said.”

Separately, Toyota is recalling 385,000 in its Lexus IS series because of problems with the wiper blades.

“The wiper arm nut of the front wiper in these vehicles may not be tight enough and the wiper may not work under certain weather occasions, including in snow.”
