2014 Honda Insight Gets 42 MPG

At a time when gasoline prices are at a premium, one of the most important issues to car buyers is the gas mileage. And the new Honda Insight hybrid gets 42 mpgs.

“People want to get more bang for their buck,” said Keith Hofkamp, general sales manager at Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “With the Honda Insight, you definitely get that. It’s a well-built, small car that delivers big gas mileage.”

And we all know that good things come in small packages.
Not only that but it is one of the most affordable hybrids on the market.

“The small size has a purpose. It’s what allows the 2014 Honda Insight to get an impressive 42 mpg combined fuel economy rating. The excellent fuel economy comes from the combination of a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine and a 10-kilowatt electric motor. The motor tacks on 14 horsepower, putting the overall output for the Insight at 98 horsepower. The motor and engine don’t power the vehicle themselves, rather they work in tandem. On top of adding to the horsepower, the motor supplements the 123 lb-ft of torque and gives the engine the juice it needs to power up after a complete stop. It also keeps the hybrid from having to be plugged in as it acts as a generator for the lithium-ion battery.”

Stop by Sims Honda, Northwest Honda, or Apple Valley Honda today to take the Honda Insight for a test drive!

Honda CR-Z Hybrid Goes 100 MPH

Hybrid vehicles are not exactly known for their performance.

Well, most hybrid vehicles.

This car journalist could have selected any car his heart desires to race in the MTN Kalahari Desert SpeedWeek, but he chose the Honda CR-Z Hybrid vehicle.

“While you will continue seeing many a Porsche and Mercedes-Benz, I can assure you that nobody else will be bringing a CR-Z to the pan. Not this year. And probably not next year either. So to say that I’m the only person to drive one of these fairly rare coupés down the 5km desert drag strip is quite cool. Well in my book anyway.”

When he wrote this article, he’d gotten it into the 100 mph club, which is very respectable for the soft racing surface and even beats out more expected with V-8 engines like the Porsche 356 Outlaw.

If you own a Honda CR-Z, he also gives you some pointers on how to get to 100mph despite the eco-friendly hybrid technology. :)

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid Goes to Production in U.S.

We are very excited to announce that the much anticipated 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is headed to production to the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio! This means it should be on local dealership lots like Apple Valley Honda, Northwest Honda, and Sims Honda later this year.

“We are extremely excited to get the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “We think this vehicle will appeal to a lot of people for a couple reasons. One, because it’s an Accord and will have the performance and reliability of an Accord. Two, because the Accord hybrid gets 50 miles per gallon the freeway and 45 city driving.”

According to this article, “The 2014 Accord Hybrid combines the sophisticated exterior styling and spacious interior packaging of the Accord Sedan with a highly efficient two-motor hybrid system from Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology advanced powertrain series.”

Even before it hits showrooms this fall, the Accord Hybrid is already surpassing the competition and claiming segment leadership,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of auto operations at American Honda. “For customers looking for a 50 mpg rated 4-door sedan, there is no other choice than the 2014 Accord Hybrid.”

Look for the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid at Apple Valley Honda, Northwest Honda, or Sims Honda dealership later this fall!

Honda Insight is Different From Other Hybrids

When people think “hybrid” they often think of Honda’s competitor, the Toyota Prius.

Sure, people may think “Prius” when they think of hybrids, but they also think of a car with little or no gusto and one that certainly isn’t fun to drive. The Honda Insight not only gets fuel efficiency in the low-40s for both highway and city, it’s is also fun to drive. We think more people will start thinking of the Honda Insight because…well, it’s just more fun to drive.

With a “nimble” suspension and starting price less than $20k, you owe it to yourself to check out the Honda Insight.

“Generally, people don’t come in looking for the Insight,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager at Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “But when they start telling us they need a car with fantastic gas mileage, kind of sporty, and affordable, we point them towards the Honda Insight, and they are almost always pleasantly surprised to find out it is a hybrid…and it is fun to drive!”

For you chance to see how fun the Honda Insight really is, stop by Sims Honda, Northwest Honda in Bellingham, or Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee to take one for a test drive!

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid Officially Gets 50 MPG

We love the all-new Accord. We really love the 2014 Honda Accord. We really, really love the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid because it gets 50 mpgs.

Yes, you read that right. 5-0. Miles per gallon.

This is a slight bump up from other reports, but now we know that when the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid hits dealership lots like Northwest Honda in Bellingham, Sims Honda in Burlington, and Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee, that people can expect 50 mpgs highway driving and 45 mpgs city driving (47 mpgs combined).

“Who doesn’t want 50 miles per gallon?” asked Tony Carter, general manager at Northwest Honda. “Everyone wants to get as much fuel efficiency as possible and the 2014 Honda Accord hybrid crushes every other hybrid sedan in the industry in this category. We live in an expensive part of the country, where gas is expensive, so do yourself a favor and start considering the 2014 Honda Accord hybrid now.”

The 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid will be available for purchase in October.

We simply can’t wait!

2014 Honda Accord Price Revealed

The price for the 2014 Honda Accord has been announced that it will cost $275 more than the 2013.

Although this price increase comes with few changes since the 2013 Honda Accord was completely redesigned, we still think it’s well worth it. As this articlepoints out, the price bump means the 2014 Honda Accord is slightly more expensive than its competitors, but we think that’s ok because the 2014 Honda Accord is a better value than its competitors.

“The 2013 Honda Accord has been such a huge hit with critics and consumers,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “The 2014 Honda Accord will be pretty much the same, but I don’t think the price increase will be problem for buyers because when the see the new Accord they’ll see that it is the best in its class. With no other car do you get back-up cameras and so many other features standard on all trims.”

The price for the highly anticipated 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid has not been announced yet, but will be before it goes on sale in October.

Come check out the 2014 Honda Accord and Accord Hybrid later this fall at Sims Honda, Northwest Honda, and Apple Valley Honda dealerships!

2013 Honda CR-Z: The First Mainstream Sporty Hybrid

In this article, the writer proposes that the 2013 Honda CR-Z is the solution to those who want a sport vehicle (which Honda is known and loved for) and meeting the world’s requirement of more eco-friendly vehicles.

And it seems to be a slam dunk, home run, touchdown, and (insert your sports analogy here) because “…the CR-Z delivers a really cracking driving experience.”

What seems to make the Honda CR-Z so cracking? It “utilizes Macpherson-strut suspension at the front end over the more performance-oriented double-wishbone suspension, is packed with safety features and electronic aids and all, that, to the hardcore enthusiast, seemingly adulterates the driving experience.”

It also doesn’t hurt that the 2013 Honda CR-Z has a 130-hp engine, 144-volt lithium ion battery, increased torque, and Honda’s amazing 6-speed manual transmission.

“Honda’s manual transmissions have always been the best and the CR-Z’s six-speed self-shifter is sniper-rifle precise, a real joy to row through and feel the snickety-snick of the gears.”

And you don’t need to be worried about any kind of weird, hybrid drivability. In fact, “it drives just like a sports car.”

As with any Honda, you can also expect the best safety features. “As expected of any modern car, the CR-Z is loaded with safety features: six airbags up front with curtain bags that span the length of the cabin, ABS-EBD brakes with Brake Assist and Stability/Traction control as standard. There’s also a lot of small details such as the drilled aluminum pedals and aluminum shiftknob for the 6-speed manual, the slots on the front seats which technically mean you can sling in a couple of four-point clubman harnesses for some track time/amateur racing activities, and the LED daytime running lamps which give a touch of class and sophistication for this modern-day lightweight warrior.”

Honda Accord Hybrid Arriving in October!

So you might already know this, but we saw this brief article and got all excited about the arrival of the Honda Accord Hybrid in October to Honda dealerships like Apple Valley Honda, Northwest Honda, and Sims Honda.

“We are extremely excited about the Honda Accord Hybrid,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager at Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “We have seen a rise in demand for hybrid vehicles. People really want Honda to offer more in this area because they know Honda and they trust Honda. They especially trust the Accord, so for the Accord to offered as a hybrid, we expect it to do really well.”

According to this article, “In the Hybrid application, Honda rates the Accord at 4.8 l/100 km in the city and 5.2 on the highway. This time around, however, the electric motor will be mated to a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, unlike the previous Accord Hybrid, which saw a V6 instead.”

We are so excited.

Eeeeek! :)

2014 Honda Fit Hybrid Gets 85 MPG, Only in Japan

Of course this article caught our attention as we read that the 2014 Honda Fit Hybrid is expected to get 85.6 mpg (36.4 km/L). Wow. Then we were disappointed when we read that the 2014 Honda Fit Hybrid will probably only be made available in Japan.

Insert teenage whiny voice: “But whyeeeeee?!”

According to the article, “The Honda Fit is sold in the U.S. with a 1.5-liter four cylinder and gets 35 mpg with the automatic transmission. And it’s also sold as a 100 percent electric. But Honda is apparently not offering the hybrid model in the U.S. Honda may be working on a new compact sedan and crossover based on the Fit, for the U.S. and it could be sold in North-America early in 2014 with a similar hybrid system.”

That’s not really an answer. Personally, I’d want a model that gets 85.6 mpg. Right?!

“The all-new 2014 Honda Fit Hybrid will launch in Japan in early September. Hopefully the Japanese automaker will either bring the hybrid Fit to the U.S., or develop a new compact sedan and crossover based on the Sport Hybrid i-DCD hybrid system. Stay tuned.”

What do you think? Should Honda bring the 2014 Honda Fit Hybrid to the U.S. so we can all have the opportunity to drive a car that gets the “fuel sipping” mileage of 85.6 mpg?? Yes! :)

Honda Accord Hybrid Set Up to Take Down Competition

There has been a lot written about the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid set to land at dealerships like Apple Valley Honda, Sims Honda, and Northwest Honda in October of this year.

We LOVE this brief set up of the battle among the hybrids. Basically, the 2014 Honda Accord getting almost 50 miles per gallon will be enough to overtake the competition and become the hybrid supreme.

Well, according to this article it is.

“We are extremely excited to get the 2014 Honda Accord here at Sims Honda,” said Keith Hofkamp of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “The market has been warming up to hybrid technology more and more as the technology gets better and people begin to get used to it. Combine better hybrid technology with the dependability and reliability of the Honda Accord brand and no doubt it will be a top seller everywhere. Who doesn’t want 50 miles to the gallon?!”

What do you think? Will getting 49 mpg (far more than other hybrid competitors) be enough to make the 2014 Honda Accord the top hybrid?
