Honda is quite adept at developing commercials and media campaigns that touch our hearts.
This 70 second online spot called “A Man and His Car” outlines why people love their Hondas: they take us to college, to our first jobs, to our weddings…all the way until they are no longer big enough because your family has grown.
Some people say Hondas are boring, “appliances on wheels,” but if dependability and reliability is boring then I think most of us will be bored for the rest of lives.
“Some other car manufacturers look at the Japanese makes and call them appliances, they think they’re vanilla. Whatever. The reality is the dependability and quality of the Hondas have made them very trustworthy. They are loyal companions to customers,” said Mike Accavitti, senior VP-automobile operation at American Honda in Torrance, Calif. “There’s a lot to love about dependability, the simplicity, the ease of use, the fun to drive element, the great fuel economy and the safety. Based on those attributes, consumers really love their cars. They talk to them. They name them. It’s truly a unique bond.”

Not only that, but they are also using him as prize.

Honda announced that it is expanding the availability of SiriusXM radio on Many several Honda models.
According to this article, “For the first time, SiriusXM will be offered on the Fit, CR-Z, and Insight models. Additionally, Honda will expand availability of the radio service on the Accord, Civic, CR-V, and Pilot. Acura ILX buyers will get SiriusXM as standard equipment.”
“We think this is just another example of Honda giving drivers what they want,” said Tod McLaughlin, general manager at Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee. “Offering SiriusXM radio in more vehicles simply gives people more options and a higher tech ride; that’s what most people want.”
Back the to the article, “American Honda first introduced the satellite radio service in 2003. The recent expansion is part of an agreement between Honda and Sirius XM Radio to extend their partnership through January 2020. Right now, customers who purchase a Honda or Acura vehicle with satellite radio receive a 3-month subscription to the radio company’s All Access Package, giving them access to everything from NFL games to NASCAR events to Oprah Radio.”

The 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid continues to earn accolades from critics and consumers alike. It’s also earned it’s first “best of” award from Green Car Reports.
According to this article, the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid beat out 5 other vehicles, including “the 2014 BMW i3 electric, 2014 Chevrolet Cruze diesel, 2014 Chevrolet Spark electric, 2014 Mazda3 with conventional gas power and 2014 Honda Accord hybrid.”
“This is very exciting,” said Tony Carter, general manager at Northwest Honda dealership in Bellingham. “I’m sure it’s just the first of many awards the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid will earn, but it’s really incredible to have it start getting this kind of recognition and beating out big names like BMW already.”
By getting more mpgs (up to 52 mpgs!), the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid will become the most popular hybrid sedan on the road.

We have mentioned Honda’s “Start Something Special” campaign and even the commercial about the special role Honda played in the wedding of one lucky couple.
The bride had requested to borrow 3 Honda CR-Vs for the wedding; Honda provided eight. Then flew in family from Ireland for the big day. And Irish step dancers. And the couple’s favorite Irish band. And arranged for $2,000 from Macy’s.
This article (you can watch the commercial at the end of it) stated that the commercial wasn’t moving, that there wasn’t enough tension to make it effective. And that Honda “upstaged” the couple.
We definitely think that is wrong. Sure, it’s not super dramatic and there’s no “tension,” but as we watched it, we were definitely touched and even teared up. A couple’s wedding day is memorable, for sure, but Honda certainly made it more memorable and special.

In a reflection of the continued comeback and recovery of Honda from several natural disasters a couple years ago and the automotive industry as a whole, Honda posted more than a $1 billion net profit last quarter, which is a 46% boost from last year.
According to this article, part of that boost in sales is due to an increase in sales of the Honda Accord (14 percent) and Honda Civic (nine percent). Much of the profit can also be attributed to increase in sales in the United States and a weakening Yen in Japan.
“The yen has fallen about 12 percent against the dollar in 2013, creating a tailwind for Japanese brands as they face the most competitive lineup of vehicles in a generation from U.S. automakers GM, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC.”
Of course this is a good sign that people are more confident in their spending and spending their hard earned dollars on Hondas. Honda has worked hard to earn the trust of consumers and that’s reflected in the earnings last quarter!
The Honda Accord is a much beloved family-sedan. However, back in 2009 Honda responded to those who love the Accord but also wanted more storage and more power.
