Honda’s Net Profit Surges 46% Last Quarter

In a reflection of the continued comeback and recovery of Honda from several natural disasters a couple years ago and the automotive industry as a whole, Honda posted more than a $1 billion net profit last quarter, which is a 46% boost from last year.

According to this article, part of that boost in sales is due to an increase in sales of the Honda Accord (14 percent) and Honda Civic (nine percent). Much of the profit can also be attributed to increase in sales in the United States and a weakening Yen in Japan.

“The yen has fallen about 12 percent against the dollar in 2013, creating a tailwind for Japanese brands as they face the most competitive lineup of vehicles in a generation from U.S. automakers GM, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC.”

Of course this is a good sign that people are more confident in their spending and spending their hard earned dollars on Hondas. Honda has worked hard to earn the trust of consumers and that’s reflected in the earnings last quarter!

Honda Crosstour is a Great Fit for Families

The Honda Accord is a much beloved family-sedan. However, back in 2009 Honda responded to those who love the Accord but also wanted more storage and more power.

The result was the Honda Accord Crosstour, now just known as the Honda Crosstour.

“The 2014 Honda Crosstour is essentially a hatchback Accord with way more power and storage, which makes it even more perfect for families who are looking for an economical car with lots of storage who also don’t want an SUV,” said Keith Hofkamp, sales manager at Sims Honda dealership in Burlington, Wash.

According to this article, “The V-6 engine that was found in the first edition Crosstour is still present in the new 2014 Honda Crosstour, but it has been significantly upgraded. The 3.5-liter engine delivers 278 horsepower and 252 pound-foot of torque. The Crosstour also offers a four-cylinder engine option which has an output of 192 horsepower, yet is still capable of achieving 31 mpg on the highway.

“On top of the fuel economy rating, consumers are sure to enjoy the storage versatility of the Crosstour. The sloped back seems to cut into the storage capacity, however, the space is compensated for in the hidden, removable utility box in the floor of the cargo area. Storage is also extended to 51.3 cubic feet when the fold-down 60/40 split rear seatback is collapsed.”

Versatility, storage, power, high safety ratings, and great gas mileage. What more could you want from a vehicle?! Stop by Sims Honda, Northwest Honda in Bellingham, or Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee to see why the Honda Crosstour could be the perfect car for your family.

Honda CR-V Better Than Ford SUVs in Many Ways

This is press release from a local Honda dealership located in Wisconsin. They’ve done some great comparisons between the Honda CR-V and Ford SUVs. Check it out below. If Wisconsin is too far for you to get your Honda CR-V fix, then stop by Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee, Northwest Honda in Bellingham, or Sims Honda in Burlington!

RHINELANDER, Wis., Oct. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Rhinelander Honda is committed to being a primary resource for people looking for their first or next Honda car, truck or SUV. They have employed a series of online tools to make the research phase of vehicle shopping as painless as possible. During that research process, customers are often tasked with comparing vehicles on a head-to-head basis. Trying to find those measurements and scores can be very difficult, especially when comparing similar vehicles between two different automakers. The staff at Rhinelander Honda has done some of that leg work for its customers and compared two of the most popular crossover SUVs on the market today; the 2014 Honda CR-V vs. the 2014 Ford Escape.

As for the differences of the Honda CR-V and the Ford Escape, a few jump right off of the page to those deciding which vehicle to finally take home with them. The 2014 Honda CR-V is powered by a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower while recording more than 20 miles per gallon during city driving conditions and breaking the 30-mile per gallon barrier while driving on the highway, according to Environmental Protection Agency estimates. There are more engine options available for the 2014 Ford Edge; however those are only available on some of the higher priced upper trims. The base engine of the 2014 Edge is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder that makes 168 horsepower while getting very similar EPA fuel-economy scores to the 2014 Honda CR-V.The 2014 Honda CR-V available in Rhinelander has been one of the most popular crossover SUVs since it was released to the public sometime ago. The new CR-V, like its predecessors, offers one of the most compliant and comfortable rides in its automotive industry segment. One of several things that have made crossover SUVs more popular than older, more rough-and-tumble designs has been the unibody construction of the Honda CR-V’s frame. This design feature allows the CR-V to be much more nimble through tight spaces like parking structures or parking lots. Drivers that have never driven an SUV before will have a very small learning curve coming from a sedan.

Honda’s “#StartSomething” Campaign is Making Social Media Waves

TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 28, 2013 – /PRNewswire/ — In August, Honda introduced the “Start Something Special” tag line throughout the brand’s advertising to communicate the special relationship people have with their Hondas. To socialize the new tag line across platforms, Honda is celebrating the special stories fans have with their Hondas and facilitating conversation across social media using the #StartSomething hashtag.

“We invite everyone to tell us how they can #StartSomething special every day. We’ll be listening, watching and celebrating with our fans and owners across social media,” said Michael Accavitti, Senior Vice President of Automobile Operations at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “These stories will become the next chapter of our vibrant digital scrapbook that shows what Honda means to our customers’ and fans’ lives and evolves our ‘Honda Loves You Back’ efforts—feel-good surprises we’ve orchestrated over the past few years to show gratitude to those who have expressed love for the brand.”

To launch “Start Something Special” in social media, Honda showed some special appreciation to a soon-to-be-married couple because of their long family history of Honda loyalty—together they have owned 20 Hondas. The couple, Mairead and Kevin, asked their local Honda dealer to loan three black CR-Vs for bridal-party participation. Little did they realize that Honda had something much bigger planned.

Having been told that their story might be used in Honda marketing, the video opens with Mairead talking about how she met Kevin and her family’s loyalty to Honda. The video then segues to Honda’s special plans for the couple following their ceremony (a couple key family insiders helped the brand make things extra meaningful for the couple). The couple steps outside the church and sees eight black CR-Vs parked. Mairead and Kevin stand in awe as each CR-V reveals personalized, unexpected delights such as the band they heard on their first date playing a song, Irish step dancers and gifts from their registry delivered by relatives from Ireland.

The #StartSomething conversation will carry on across Honda’s social platforms, includingFacebookGoogle+, Instagram, TumblrTwitter and Vine, where fans will be encouraged to share their stories with Honda. All stories will be collected at hondastories.com.

National Brand TV

To spread “Start Something Special” to a broad audience, Honda is launching two national brand TV spots, beginning with “Thank You” that breaks 10/29. A collection of photographs and video of families and fans show their appreciation of the Honda brand. A voice-over says, “Thank you all for making your Honda more than a car. Thanks for making them something special.” The spots will air on the NHL network and during NFL games.

Behind the Scenes of Honda’s Popular New Commercial

Honda’s “Impossible Made Possible” commercial is making people think “How did they do that?” and is a big hit online.

But how did they do it?

Check out this link to see see the commercial and then HOW they made such a cool commercial.

See Honda’s Driverless Valet System at Work

We read a lot about about self-driving cars and driverless technology; technology to make parking easier and alert us to pedestrians we may not see. It is impressive and making us increasingly safer.

But it’s totally different to watch this technology at work, especially Honda’s new automatic valet parking system. Read the article and check out the video HERE.

“…Honda’s new system requires input from the parking lot via cameras. Combining information provided by the car’s rearview camera as well as cameras positioned around the parking lot, drivers are able to drop their car off at a central location, and using a touchscreen display, the car can park itself and return when the driver is ready to leave. The benefit of this is that multiple cars can be parked at the same time and no additional sensors (other than a backup camera) are needed for the car…”

We are excited to see this technology widely used, especially for those who can’t seem to park their cars in between to the two white lines in the parking lot or parallel park straight on a busy street.

Honda’s Mini Sports Car to Make Big Impact

It has been a while since Honda unveiled a mini sports car like the S660 concept revealed in Japan.

According to this article, “The S660 will be one of the six minicars Honda plans to introduce by 2015 to challenge Toyota Motor Corp. subsidiary Daihatsu Motor Co. and Suzuki Motor Corp., the leaders in a category that accounts for about 40 percent of new-car sales in Japan. Minicar sales are projected to rise this year in Japan even as total industry demand shrinks after the end of government incentives, according to researcher IHS Automotive.”

The low cost of these mini sportscars is what attracts most people, especially hobbyists.

What do you think? Would you buy one of these mini sportscars?

Honda Reveals V6 Engine Sounds

If you’re into Formula One Racing (or any kind of racing), the sound of an engine might send your heart racing.

That’s what Honda is hoping for with the release of the audio of it’s new formula one V6 engine, set to hit the tracks in 2015.

If this gets your blood pumping a little faster, leave a comment and let us know what you’re most looking forward to!

Honda Starts Food Fight On Twitter

We love a good food fight, especially one that we don’t have to clean up.

However, Honda is making the point on Twitter that the new Odyssey COULD clean up a food fight with its HondaVac.

Honda tweeted out pictures of the HondaVac cleaning up after popular (and messy) snacks like Oreos, Cheetos, Taco Bell, and more with clever sayings. And food companies didn’t take it lying down. Read the complete article HERE to get a chuckle (or at least a smile).

No doubt there aren’t many foods that HondaVac in the Honda Odyssey can’t take care…and most definitely it will be challenged because we all know kids can make all sorts of messes in the back of vehicles. But we think Honda came out triumphant on Twitters, just like it will over all those crumbs!

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid Worthy of Name

Consumer Reports recently got their first drive of the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and called it worthy of the ‘Accord’ name. Now that’s saying something.

Here’s what else Consumer Reports had to say: “Overall, marrying its slick hybrid technology to the already capable Accord and at a reasonable price is good news. It would be great if Honda were to use this system for its other so-called hybrid vehicles.”

Consumer Reports was equally impressed by the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid’s power and gas mileage. Not very often do you find good power and great gas mileage going together. In fact, it gets 196 hp and a combined 47 mpg.

“No matter how you slice it, the Hybrid’s powertrain is slick. The car sets off decisively, gliding on abundant electric-motor torque. Transitions between electric-only and gas-assisted power are barely perceptible. And unlike other hybrids, the brake pedal feels natural and linear despite its regenerative-braking duties. No learning curve needed.”

Stop by Apple Valley Honda, Northwest Honda, or Sims Honda to take the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid for a spin and see what all the buzz is about!
