Zipcar Announces New ONE>WAY Service Featuring Spacious and Versatile 2015 Honda Fit

Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing company, today announced “Zipcar ONE>WAY,” a new service that will enable members to take point-to-point trips within cities, and to and from select airport locations. The new service, currently being tested and slated to launch in select markets later this year, will exclusively feature the Honda Fit, the fun-to-drive, fuel-efficient and versatile subcompact that is small enough to zip in and around cities, yet large enough to comfortably fit up to five people and their gear. Honda’s role in the Zipcar ONE>WAY service continues its long legacy in car sharing dating back to the introduction of its Intelligent Community Vehicle System (ICVS) concept in 1994.

The new Zipcar ONE>WAY service will enable members to reserve and pick up a Honda Fit Zipcar at a designated location and drop it off at another with a guaranteed parking spot. Zipcar’s new service not only benefits members through increased flexibility, but also helps reduce congestion in cities as members are not circling the block searching for parking. Zipcar ONE>WAY, combined with the company’s industry-leading round-trip model, will offer members the most comprehensive mobility option available.

“Our ONE>WAY service blends the best of Zipcar – guaranteed parking and advance reservations – with the best of the one-way model – spontaneity and the freedom to leave a car in a different location,” said Zipcar President Kaye Ceille. “Zipcar ONE>WAY, combined with our global fleet of more than 10,000 vehicles with 30 different makes and models, offers members the most options, the most flexibility and the largest global network of any mobility provider.”

The all-new 2015 Honda Fit has become even more of a standout choice in the subcompact segment with its small-on-the-outside exterior and big-on-the-inside interior passenger and cargo space. Available through Zipcar ONE>WAY this fall, the 2015 Fit features a fresh and modern design, a powerful and efficient engine, plus a highly versatile interior loaded with standard equipment essential for urban driving like a rear-view camera and Bluetooth® hands-free connectivity. The surprisingly roomy 2015 Fit interior provides an impressive 95.7 cubic feet of passenger volume with comfortable seating for up to five passengers with ample storage space behind the rear seats.

For enhanced versatility, the Fit is equipped with the Honda-exclusive 60/40 split rear Magic Seat® which offers multiple seating and cargo-carrying configurations to accommodate long items up to eight feet long or tall items like plants. With its one-motion dive-down functionality, it can fold flat into the floor to provide nearly 53 cu-ft. of rear cargo volume. That’s more cargo area than the average SUV, offering enough space to allow for 10 carry-on sized suitcases. On top of its superior cargo capabilities, the 2015 Fit is a class leader in fuel efficiency with an EPA fuel-economy rating1 of 33/41/36 for the LX trim with a new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

“Created for urban mobility, the Fit subcompact and Zipcar ONE>WAY service will offer Zipsters the best of sustainable city transportation in a functional, stylish and fuel efficient package,” said Steven Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda. “Honda has long been involved in the car sharing industry, and we believe that this program will help reduce emissions and city congestion while providing a new level of freedom and convenience to customers.”

“This combination of roominess, flexibility and fuel efficiency makes the Fit a perfect fit for our ONE>WAY service,” continued Ceille. “With this initiative, we build on a long and successful relationship with Honda, whose leadership in sustainability and engagement with the car sharing industry during the past decade have helped accelerate the growth of the car sharing category.”

5 Reasons to Buy the 2015 Honda Fit

Autotrader.com put together a fabulous article and video outlining exactly why the 2015 Honda Fit was worth the wait (“and then some”) for a new Honda Fit model.

The five reasons? More versatility, fancier features, better mileage, more rewarding on the road, and a smattering of style.

“We’ve always liked the Fit, and with the new model’s thoughtful improvements, we like it even more. If you need a hatchback that can do it all for well under $20,000, try a Fit on for size.”

“We are extremely excited to welcome the 2015 Honda Fit,” said Tod McLaughlin, general manager at Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee. “People love the Fit because of it’s functionality, space, gas mileage, and more. The new Fit only compounds on that and we know people will love it and make it one of Honda’s best-selling cars.”

2015 Honda Fit

We have written a couple times about how awesome the 2015 Honda Fit is, so here’s a great video that showcases some of the best qualities of the 2015 Honda Fit, including the technology that comes standard and how incredibly spacious it is. Even if you don’t think it will fit in the back…it probably will.

Honda Fit is an Award-Winning Vehicle

In our previous post we mentioned how the Honda Fit is an integral part of the Honda plan to sell 6 million units in just a few years. In essence, the Honda Fit may take over the world with it’s new options (ie the Fit EV)…or at least the Honda Civic (globally; jury is still out on if that would happen in the U.S.).

So here is a great, short article with a brief history of the Honda Fit, including some of the awards it’s won:

  • Japan Car of the Year, 2001-2002 and 2007-2008
  • RJC Car of the Year Award 2002
  • Car and Driver’s Best small Car from 2007-2013
  • Top Gear Survey 2006, Best Small Car
  • Top Gear Survey 2005, Second Best out of All Cars in Survey
  • MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards 2007, Best Small Car
  • MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards 2007, Best of the Year

Honda Fit, Vezel Will Contribute to Big Sales for Honda

This coming year will be a big year for Honda. Future years will be big for Honda, too, according to this article from Forbes.

How big? Honda is expecting to sell 6 million vehicles in 2017; it sold 4 million in 2012. While many of us would expect the Honda Accord and other vehicles to be key contributors, Honda is counting on the Fit taking over sales of the Civic worldwide (it is currently the top-selling car in Japan) and the new compact SUV, the Vezel, to make a big splash.

“Americans can’t seem to get enough of the compact SUVs,” said Keith Hofkamp of Sims Honda in Burlington. “And if the CR-V is any indication, Honda certainly knows what people want in their compact SUV and all the previews look fantastic, so I see no reason for the Vezel not to be a big hit. The Fit is one of the most functional and fuel efficient vehicles on the road. Many people come into the dealership thinking they’re going to get an Accord or Civic, but find that they really like the Fit.”

We are really excited about the Honda Fit and Vezel because we think it will meet a lot of people’s needs a wants in a new vehicle: functionality, space, fuel efficiency, world-class technology, and sleek design.

Refreshing 2015 Honda Fit Design

Have you seen pictures of the new 2015 Honda Fit? If you haven’t, you will and you won’t forget that you saw it, either.

This article poses the question about the 2015 Honda Fit, “Refreshing or Revolting?” in the title, but really the rest of the article goes on to talk about how awesome it is, including how sleek it looks. I mean, really the only thing people can talk about is how it looks because the functionality of the Honda Fit has long-been established.

What do you think? Take a look at the article and let us know if the new, sportier look of the Honda Fit has any influence on you!

Honda Fit Hybrid Recall

Honda announced that it is recalling Honda Fit Hybrids produced July 2013 through February 2014 due to a potential software glitch.

The problem with the software issue could affect “the 7-speed dual clutch transmission or DCT, that could cause a delay in the ability to begin driving or the inability to move.”

Honda is encouraging people to check each DCT gear every day. Anyone with concerns or that has issues should contact their local Honda dealership. Any vehicles requiring a fix will be done so free of charge.

2015 Honda Fit, 2014 Civic Infotainment System is “Advanced”

Infotainment systems are becoming as important as vehicle performance and comfort. People want superior technology and access to the desired information when they want it…how they want it.

The infotainment system in the 2014 Honda Civic and in the newly unveiled 2015 Honda Fit, is exactly what consumers want: simple yet advanced.

According to this article, “Debuting at the recent Detroit Auto Show, the new Fit features a 7-inch touchscreen that lets users swipe, pinch, and tap — just like a smartphone. Instead of Honda’s old, two-screen i-MID display with jog wheel, the Fit’s infotainment system is streamlined and easy to use.”

The 2015 Honda Fit is only the second car (after the Honda Civic) to have Siri Eyes Free Integration. At the Detroit Auto Show, the infotainment “…impressed. It was quick to process and responsive to inputs. And the pinch and swipe capacity was on par with most smartphones.”

This is just one more reason to check out the 2014 Honda Civic and look forward to the 2015 Honda Fit!

2014 Honda Fit Better Value Than Nissan Versa-Note

We see a lot of comparisons including the Honda Accord and Civic because they are two of Hondas most popular vehicles. So this article comparing the 2014 Honda Fit and Nissan Versa-Note definitely caught our attention.

Especially because the 2014 Honda Fit was declared the better value by Torquenews.com.

“In closing, you get what you pay for. While both makes offer great value for the dollar spent, we believe that the Honda will hold up better for the long term while providing a more pleasurable driving, ownership experience. By the time we factor in initial purchase price, overall quality of product, standard features and performance, the Honda Fit wins this very close small hatchback sector comparison.”

The article complains of lame performance and uninspired interior in the Nissan Versa. By comparison, “The interior of the Fit Sport as comparably priced to an optional feature loaded Versa-Note is superior as to aesthetics, ergonomic placement and standard creature comforts.”

Yes, the Honda Fit starts at $1,500 more than the Nissan Versa-Note, but we all know there’s a difference between “affordable” and “cheap;” the Nissan Versa-Note may have given up enough things in an effort to make it affordable that it might have crossed over into cheap.

“The 2014 Honda Fit is a great hatchback,” said Tod McLaughlin of Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee. “Starting at just around $15,400, the Honda Fit is certainly affordable but is still a high-quality, Honda-quality vehicle.”

Stop by Apple Valley Honda, Northwest Honda, or Sims Honda dealership to take the 2014 Honda Fit for a test drive and find out exactly what makes it a better value than the Nissan Versa-Note.

Honda Projects Record Year with 6% Gain in U.S. Sales

Always aiming for bigger and better things, Honda is aiming to make 2014 its best year ever by increasing sales by 6%.

“We definitely think that’s doable,” said Tony Carter of Northwest Honda in Bellingham. “Honda vehicles are only getting better in sales, especially with vehicles like that new Honda Accord and upcoming, redesigned 2015 Honda Fit. The new Fit will will really affect sales because people are really going to respond to the new design.”

Erik Nelson, chairman of the brand’s dealer advisory board, said Honda has been helping dealers’ back shops with Express Service “tools, training and teams” that can improve throughput for oil changes and minor services.

“2014 will be a really great year for Honda,” Carter said. “I think it will be really exciting as people continue to buy the impressive Accord, award-winning CR-V, and updated Fit. And all the other Hondas that just keep getting better every year.”

Stop by Northwest Honda, Sims Honda, and Apple Valley Honda to find out why Honda will have a record-breaking year this year!
