2015 Honda Fit is Big and Fast Enough

When people first see the Fit, they might think it sort of looks like a smallish, slowish hybrid. Well, we’re here to blow your minds because it isn’t small on the inside, it isn’t slow, and it isn’t a hybrid but it DOES get amazing gas mileage.

In comparing the 2015 Honda Fit to the Ford Fiesta, this auto writer explained: “The Fit, on the other hand, fits – in both rows. Its back seat accommodations are as generous as what you’d find in several mid-sized cars. And you could carry a bundle of 2x4x8s home in one . . . with the rear liftgate closed.”

It has more room on the inside than the Accord, but isn’t as big on the outside as the Accord. AND it starts at just more than $15,000.

What else is to love about the 2015 Honda Fit? The versatile and functional interior (fold flat, fold up, etc), gas mileage, and strength of the motor. It is fun and quick to drive!

“The 2015 Honda Fit is such a great vehicle,” said Keith Hofkamp of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “It is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside, it is much faster than most people think, it gets better gas mileage than most others in its class, AND, even for a Honda, it has a really versatile and functional interior.”

2015 Honda Fit is Perfect Back to School Car

We have heard a lot of positive things about the 2015 Honda Fit. How it’s a great commuter car, great for families, one of the safest new vehicles on the road, and, now, a great back to school vehicle.

With it’s amazing folding seats, it’s perfect for packing stuff to school, from apartment to apartment, hauling friends around, and more. And all 0-60 mps in nine seconds.

And according to the article, “And, come on, it’s totally cute. Puffed out, with barely focused eyes and a stony expression, the Fit looks like a startled baby blowfish.”

What’s better than a baby blowfish?

Awesome gas mileage, tons of room, functionality, and performance.

“What people are finding is the 2015 Honda Fit really fits many different kinds of lifestyles and stages of life,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington.

Stop by Sims Honda, Northwest Honda, or Apple Valley Honda dealership to check out the 2015 Honda Fit and how it’s the perfect back to school vehicle.

Honda Launches 2015 Fit SEMA Project Vehicle Program on Tumblr

  • Six build teams will each customize a 2015 Fit
  • Enthusiast fans will vote for their favorite customized Fit
  • Completed project vehicles will be on display in the Honda booth at the 2014 SEMA Show

Honda will demonstrate the great personalization potential of the all-new 2015 Fit through an ambitious project vehicle program and interactive Tumblr experience launching today and culminating at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Honda has selected six build teams, Bisimoto Engineering, Kontrabrands, MAD Industries, Spoon Sports USA, Tjin Edition and the award-winning Kenny Vinces, who will each have the opportunity to customize a 2015 Honda Fit leading up to the SEMA Show. To further support enthusiast interest in the Fit project car build process, Honda is initiating the Fit Performance Project (#ProjectFit) on the brand’s Tumblr page, which will keep track of the teams’ progress with each vehicle.

“Personalized Honda subcompacts were the foundation of the original import tuner revolution, and the all-new Fit upholds that legacy with a great powertrain, an engaging chassis and renowned Honda quality, all at an affordable price,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division. “Our Fit project vehicle program and our Tumblr initiative, #ProjectFit, together offer a unique, fun way to demonstrate the personalization potential of this great new car.”

The build teams will each bring their personalized Fit to life with modifications such as aerodynamic body kits, wheels, custom paint jobs and more. Photos of the transformations in progress will be posted throughout the campaign at hondaloves.tumblr.com. The program will conclude with all six customized Fit project vehicles being displayed at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas in November.

From Aug. 21 through Oct. 22, Project Fit content, including photos, animated GIFs and video, will be aggregated on Honda’s Tumblr page where people can vote for their favorite customized Fit by liking and reblogging posts tagged with #ProjectFit. The shop with the highest total likes and reblogs will win and receive an award from Honda. This effort will be promoted onautomobiles.honda.com, in Honda newsletters and on the brand’s Facebook and Twitter profiles.

The Fit Performance Project posts will feature several themes including: “Preview,” revealing design illustrations or renderings; “Show Us Your Mods,” highlighting five modifications made to the vehicle; “In Progress,” revealing headway on the design; and more leading up to the vehicles on display at the SEMA Show.

All-New 2015 Honda Fit Earns a 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK Rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

  • Voluntary product update will enable early-production vehicles to match the 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK rating
  • No other manufacturer has more top-safety rated vehicles built in America than American Honda1

The 2015 Honda Fit (http://automobiles.honda.com/fit/), the standout choice in the subcompact segment, has received a 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK ratingfrom the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This includes a top rating of GOOD in four IIHS crash test modes and an ACCEPTABLE score in the Insurance Institute’s stringent small overlap frontal crash test. No vehicle in its class has received a higher rating than Fit in this IIHS test procedure.

“Honda’s deep-rooted commitment to safety and to our customers is perhaps best demonstrated by the fact that we were not satisfied with anything but a TOP SAFETY PICK for the new 2015 Honda Fit,” said Art St. Cyr, vice president of auto operations at American Honda. “Vehicle by vehicle, our engineers are passionate about developing safety technologies that consumers have come to trust and expect from Honda.”

An early-production 2015 Honda Fit was originally tested in March for the 2014 award year by IIHS and earned a GOOD in four out of five IIHS crash test modes and a MARGINAL score in the challenging small overlap frontal crash test. Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety, Honda engineers responded quickly with a modification to the Fit’s front bumper structure. Subsequent testing by IIHS confirmed the success of the design change, which has been incorporated into new vehicle production.

“Though there is no regulatory requirement to do this, in keeping with Honda’s long-standing commitment to safety and focus on its customers, Honda has voluntarily engineered a product update which will allow all early-production vehicles to share the 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK rating,” said St. Cyr.

In addition to changes in production models, approximately 12,000 early-production 2015 Honda Fit vehicles will be eligible for a product update involving a front bumper beam replacement, which will be completed free of charge at any Honda dealer in the United States. This update allows all early-production vehicles to qualify for a TOP SAFETY PICK rating and the same score in the small overlap test as recently built models. Honda is announcing this voluntary product update to encourage all owners that purchased an early-production vehicle to take their new Fit to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this update from Honda. At that time, Fit owners will also have access to a special phone line that will allow them to determine if their vehicle is eligible for the update or if it already has the updated bumper design from the factory. Customers can access this information beginning in late-September by calling (800) 999-1009, and selecting option 4.

About the Fit
Already the benchmark subcompact in terms of passenger and cargo space and innovative features, occupant safety for the 2015 Honda Fit is further enhanced through the next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. The next-generation ACE™ body structure improves frontal crash energy management through a wider range of offset and oblique collision modes. In addition, other body reinforcements work in tandem with the strengthened body structure to better maintain the occupant compartment volume during frontal collisions by providing additional crash energy pathways to help mitigate the forces transmitted to the passenger compartment.

Key New Safety and Driver-Assistive Features:
In addition to including the next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body-structure, the 2015 Fit features a host of standard active and passive safety features and includes many standard and available driver-assistive technologies.

  • Driver and Front Passenger SmartVent™ Side Airbags
  • Side Curtain Airbags with Rollover Sensor
  • Motion-Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS) – a feature of VSA
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Expanded View Driver’s Mirror
  • Honda LaneWatchTM
  • Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Guidelines

Standard safety equipment on all 2015 Honda and Acura models includes the next-generation of Honda’s ACE™ body structure, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control; an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS); side curtain airbags (some vehicles equipped with a rollover sensor as well); dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; and front side airbags.

Honda to Discontinue Fit EV, Insight Vehicles

Honda announced that after 2014, the Honda Fit EV will no longer be manufactured and the Honda Insight will only be available at dealerships through the end of the year.

While we’re sad to hear that the Honda Fit EV and Insight won’t be very available much longer, we’re excited to hear that it’s because Honda is concentrating on other electric and hybrid technologies!

According to this article, “”Our path forward includes a new generation of electromotive technologies, including expanded application of our two-motor hybrid system,” said Sage Marie, American Honda spokesman, regarding the news.

The two-motor hybrid system is in the Honda Accord Plug-in and Honda Accord Hybrid. Based on consumer and critic reviews of these models, we think is very forward-thinking and wise of Honda to concentrate on expanding on this technology. Almost everyone raves about the gas mileage and performance of the Honda Accord Plug-In and Honda Accord Hybrid, so we think with Honda putting most of it’s attention on that will only make it better!

What do you think? Are you excited for Honda to focus on this technology?

Will Honda Fit Outsell the Civic?

The people at Torque.com believe that the 2015 Honda Fit will play a big roll in the Fit eventually outselling America’s sweetheart, the Honda Civic.

Apparently, the writers got some major blowback from Honda Civic fans who wouldn’t dream of the Civic falling to any vehicle, including the Honda Fit. But Torque.com has published a response HERE about why it believes the Honda Fit is the vehicle for Generation Y-ers…and we kind of agree.

Basically, they argue that the once really inexpensive, young Civic has now matured into a more expensive, bigger, family ride whereas the Honda Fit is a cool, young design specifically for this young generation.

We think it makes sense. Vehicles, even after many redesigns, eventually age or are seen as “older” person vehicles. The Honda Civic has been an American favorite for a long time…a long time. Perhaps is time for Honda to a new vehicle for young buyers that isn’t the Honda Civic.

What do you think? Will the Honda Fit become the car of choice for young Honda buyers?

Honda “Un-Targets” Young Hispanic Consumers

We love the marketing geniuses that work with Honda. Why? Well, lots of reasons, but the latest reason is this commercial that pokes fun of classic efforts to target young Hispanic consumers.

We have all seen the sometimes over-the-top and embarrassing efforts of companies to target their advertisements at young Hispanics. Why is it over the top?

“Latino millennials are much more than what we make of them. They are a versatile bunch. They ping-pong between cultures, languages, interests and behaviors. That’s why it’s funny when you hear others trying to fit them into their box of clichés,” Andrew Orcí, president of Orci agency that created a new 2015 Honda Fit commercial mocking these cliches .

“Felipe Esparza, as our ‘Latino expert,’ is the perfect voice to make fun of this situation. Why? Because not even a Latino can define a Latino. They simply defy all expectations.”

Young Hispanic consumers are “pretty much like everybody else” so we really enjoyed this commercial making fun of the cliches with comedian Felipe Esparza.

Check out the commercial HERE.

2015 Honda Fit Exceeds Performance Expectations

When people think of the Honda Fit, they generally think of exceptional functionality and interior space…not performance. Well, when people think of the 2015 Honda Fit, they may just have to think of it’s incredible performance first.

According to Torque.com, “…you’ll be impressed by the power available Via the Fits 1.5 Liter 16 valve i-VTEC 4 cylinder. Although rated at a modest 130 hp and 114 ft-lb torque, somehow through the miracle of advanced automotive electronics, direct fuel injection, drive by wire throttle and Honda’s CVT transmission, this little Honda will put your head back in the driver’s seat.”

What else is there to love about the 2015 Honda Fit:

  • Great gas mileage at about 33 mpg around town
  • Great handling
  • And nice interior that will “fit a tall cowboy”

“The 2015 Honda Fit has a lot going for it, Honda thinks it will be the next big thing and so do we,” said Tony Carter, general manager at Northwest Honda in Bellingham. “This article does a great job of point out all the usual things people love about the Fit, but also the fact that is a pretty fun sub-compact car to drive!”
