2014 Honda Civic Si is Fun!

Honda is known for building reliable, dependable, and high-value vehicles. The word fun generally isn’t one that comes to the forefront when describing Honda vehicles.

The 2014 Honda Civic Si is on a mission to change all that.

“The 2014 Honda Civic Si is just plain fun to drive,” said Tony Carter, general manager at Northwest Honda dealership in Bellingham. “It’s quick, it’s nimble, and it’s the only model in it’s class available with a manual transmission. And that can mean some real fun for people who know what they’re doing. The 2014 model has more horsepower and more torque; it goes zero to 60 in just over six seconds.”

The 2014 Honda Civic Si comes in either coupe or sedan style. Like the writers of this article, we really like the sedan because it means more people (like small families) can enjoy the Civic Si, but certainly the coupe is just right for many people.

And the sedan style doesn’t sacrifice performance, at all. “Outfitted with one of the slickest shifting six-speed manuals in the business—the only transmission available on the Si—the new sedan proved a delight…”

Not only is it fun to drive, but unlike other “fun” vehicles, the 2014 Honda Civic Si get excellent gas mileage;  47 on the highway and 44 in the city. Saving money on gasoline is fun, right? In fact, the Civic Si is so fun, that the writers of the article picked it as their favorite Civic model. The bottom line for them: “While the Civic offers something for a wide range of buyers, our vote goes to the delightful Si that offers the combination of a fun-to-drive sports sedan and the practicality of a family hauler.”

Stop by Northwest Honda, Apple Valley Honda, or Sims Honda dealership today to take the 2014 Honda Civic Si for a fun test ride!

Honda Civic Coupe Has Long History, Bright Future

We learned a lot about the history of the Honda Civic Coupe from this article; it was fun to read about its birth in 1972 and evolution into what we know as the Honda Civic Coupe today.

“The Honda Civic Coupe is a fun vehicle, just plain fun,” said Tod McLaughlin of Apple Valley Honda. “If you are looking for an affordable, sporty vehicle, be sure to stop by and check out the Honda Civic Coupe.”

According to the article, “While the first generation only lasted until 1979, offering basic features with optional air conditioning and AM/FM radio, the current ninth-generation Civic Coupe offers a significantly larger amount of standard features across four different trim levels—LX, EX, EX-L, and EX-L Navi. With a variety of powertrains offered, the coupe is the first Honda car to offer Eco Assist technology in North America, setting a standard for future Hondas.”

With it’s sleek, seamless styling and borderline luxurious interior, the 2014 Honda Civic Coupe is one of the best, most affordable two door cars on the road because of it’s rich history. Stop by Apple Valley Honda, Northwest Honda, or Sims Honda dealership to take one for a test drive!

Today is a Pretty Great Day to Own a Honda Civic Coupe

We think that anyone driving the new Honda Civic Coupe is having a pretty great day because of its superior performance. Stop by Apple Valley Honda, Sims Honda, or Northwest Honda dealership to find out how the Honda Civic Coupe can make all your days pretty great.

2014 Honda Accord Coupe “Interactive Photographer” Commercial

This commercial for the 2014 Honda Accord Coupe is one of the best car commercials we’ve seen in a long time. Sure, the background song is French, but it was a nice change up over the deep man-voice listing all the features of the car.

It is a subtle commercial that cleverly slips in on the incredible features (most of which come standard on all trims) of the 2014 Honda Accord Coupe. Whether it was the back-up camera or lane drift warning system, this commercial highlights the real-world applications of the technology and design of the 2014 Honda Accord Coupe.

There is one beef we have to pick with the commercial, though: at one point the 2014 Honda Accord Coupe gets passed by some kind of delivery truck. With the power and speed that comes with the 2014 Honda Accord Coupe that simply would not happen in real life.

Seriously.

2013 Honda Accord Coupe Only Vehicle in its Class to Earn 5-Star Safety Rating

We have written a lot about the 2013 Honda Accord Sedan and 2013 Honda Accord Coupe because there is a lot to write about. So this blog doesn’t become the “Honda Accord” blog, we try only to write when there’s really something worth writing about.

Well, the 2013 Honda Accord Coupe has done it again, and this is definitely newsworthy: it is the only vehicle in its class to earn a NHTSA (National Highway Traffic and Safety Association) 5-star Overall Vehicle Score from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety! The Accord Sedan also earned this rating, but the Accord Coupe was the only one its class to be award the 5-star rating.

“This is a big deal,” said Tod McLaughlin of Apple Valley Honda. “To be the only one at anything is a big deal, but for the 2013 Honda Accord Coupe to be the only coupe that earned 5 stars for safety is a big accomplishment. Honda prides itself on designing and manufacturing safe vehicles. Hopefully, this will give people one more reason to take a look at the new Accord Coupe, besides its incredible performance.”

The 2013 Honda Accord Coupe earned the Overall award by garnering a 5-star rating in “each seating position in the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) front, side-barrier, and side-pole crash test categories, as well as a 5-star rollover rating.”

“The Honda comprehensive approach to vehicle safety is validated by these top-level safety ratings,” said Art St. Cyr , vice president of product planning and logistics at American Honda. “The 2013 Honda Accord truly excels in all areas, delivering the best overall safety ratings, while also providing exhilarating performance, outstanding comfort and top-class fuel economy.”

According to the press release: “Beginning with the 2013 Honda Accord, Honda is applying the second generation of the Honda Advanced Compatibility Engineering(ACEII) body structure to its models. This reinforced frontal structure further enhances frontal crash energy management through a wider range of offset and oblique collision modes.”

This is in addition to other Honda safety innovations like the LaneWatch technology that allows drivers to better see their blind spot.

Honda Accord Coupe is like “Scrappy, Jaw-Snapping Tasmanian Devil,” Ferrari

While I have yet to personally drive a Honda Accord Coupe, the reviews (like the one HERE) have made it the only car I have ever dreamed about. Yes, reviews like this one have literally made the Honda Accord Coupe the car of my dreams…and I can’t even drive stick (although, I guess I can in my dreams).

From the sounds of this review the Honda Accord Coupe is also the car of this guy’s dreams.

“The i-VTEC V-6 doesn’t produce crazy torque (252 pound- feet), and its horsepower, at 278, is modest. Yet there’s an inherent rubber-band elasticity that keeps stretching into the higher rpms until you’re not sure what will snap first, it or you. There’s that moment when I’ve got the coupe at redline and I feel like the entire vehicle is just going to take off and launch into the sky.”

That’s been a theme from automotive critics: while the torque and horsepower numbers aren’t overly impressive on paper, when combined with the Honda Accord Coupe’s light weight and design, it creates an unquantifiable “feeling which isn’t mild mannered at all. It’s exuberant and free-wheeling.”

“The Honda Accord Coupe is so fun to drive,” said Bobby Maynard, new car manager at Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “The writer of this review is right, the Honda Civic tends to be more for college kids or younger adults and the Accord is more for families. But the Coupe is the perfect blend of the two. We could probably say the sum is better than its parts in this case, if performance and fun is what you care most about.”

It’s not very often a mainstream brand like Honda gets compared to luxury brands like Ferrari and consumers get the benefit because it starts at only $33,000.

A car that performs like a Ferrari, gets 28 mpg, and only costs $33,000? Yes, please.

Not only does the Honda Accord Coupe look cooler than most cars, it is also a “unicorn” because it can come as a manual transmission.

“I’ve always loved a stick in a Honda, but these days they are an utter rarity, with 99 percent of Accord sedans sold as automatics. Only nine percent of the coupes are equipped with three pedals. Which is a shame, because a Honda i-VTEC engine under full assault (and pushed into the redline by a manual) is as unique and special as the rumble of a 5.0-liter V-8 mated to a Ford Mustang or the wailing keen from a mid-engine Ferrari. A quality and timbre all of its own.”

For your opportunity to test drive the Honda Accord Coupe (and why wouldn’t you?) and hopefully drive it home (and why wouldn’t you at only $33,000), stop by Sims Honda, Apple Valley Honda, or Northwest Honda dealership today.

V-6 Honda Accord Coupe Makes Drivers Adjectives-Happy

We have read some really positive reviews of the V-6 Honda Accord Coupe, but this one is by far our favorite. Why?

Because the writer of this article who test-drove the V-6 Honda Accord Coupe, described it this way:

  • “Seductive, taut, responsive, satisfying.”
  • “…blood-stirring, nerve-twitching experience.”
  • “…terrific, a gem…”
  • “…you really do look for tight corners and sweeping turns…”

As you can tell, he was a fan of the V-6 Honda Accord Coupe.

“The people who have come to Sims Honda and taken the Accord Coupe for a test drive have a similar experience to this writer, although they may not use as colorful language as he did,” said Dave Pitcher, sales manager at Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “People love driving the Accord Coupe. This guy tried hard to put the feeling into words, but words only give you taste. People should really come down here and try it for themselves.”

The writer also tackles the issue of the relative unpopularity of the coupe (a two-door vehicle). However, the Honda Accord Coupe has always done comparatively well and Honda expects sales of this “gem” to make up about 14% of its Accord sales (about 50,000).

Here’s my favorite quote from this review: “It’s a daily driver, yet the car’s many lovely sensations haven’t been scrubbed out in a wrong-headed attempt to “civilize” the vehicle.”

Stop by Sims Honda, Apple Valley Honda or Northwest Honda for opportunity to test drive and fall head over heels (like this guy did) for the V-6 Honda Accord Coupe.

2013 Honda Accord V6 Coupe is “the Car”

Occasionally, we find articles that have a great bottom-line point…but they are so tedious and boring to read because of the way they are written. Point and case is this article that repetitiously calls the 2013 Honda Accord V6 Coupe “the car…” and almost all the sentences are very short and choppy, which slowly lulls your brain to sleep until you can’t remember the paragraph you just read.

Well, we are here to the rescue, because we think the information in this article is great, but we want to save you from actually having to read it.

  • The 2013 Honda Accord V6 Coupe will feature an engine with 3.5 liter capacity and has been used in other
powerful cars, so we look forward to seeing it here.
  • “The engine can produce about 278 horsepower and about 252 pound feet of torque…when coupled with the light weight of the body, it can produce the desire effects.”
  • “The car” uses a six-speed manual transmission, great suspension and dependable breaking that “add to the security of the car.”
  • The Accord Coupe V6 can go zero to 60 mph in about 5.6 seconds. Weeeee!
  • It is spacious and roomy. Good head and leg room, in addition to storage space.
  • The interior  is comfortable and borderline luxurious (my word, not the article’s because, well, it’s too colorful for that article)
  • Great gas mileage at 18/28 city/highway or 22 mpg average.
  • Will cost around $33,000

The 2013 Honda Accord Coupe is expected out next year so look for it at Sims Honda, Apple Valley Honda and Northwest Honda dealerships!
