Honda was named “Most Trusted Brand” by Kelley Blue Book for the third year in a row. Honda was also named Best Non-Luxury Brand for the second year in a row, as well.
“A brand is really built over the long haul through consumers’ experiences with its products, and Honda is committed to delivering class-leading vehicles that provide lasting enjoyment and value to our customers,” Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager for the Honda brand, said in a statement.
These awards are based on the perceptions of visitors to Kelley Blue Book’s website, kbb.com. And perception is everything, right?
“Kelley Blue Book is one of the most trusted online sources for automobile information,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager at Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “It’s really great that kbb.com and its users have recognized Honda, for the third time, as a brand that everyone can trust for its safety record, performance, affordability, overall value and more.”

A new study out shows that 75% of Honda vehicles bought 25 years ago are still on the road.
That makes them among the elite brands, if not the very best, according to a Polk study.
“One of the most important considerations for a new vehicle purchase is how long that vehicle will last and this study demonstrates that Honda quality and reliability is not just part of our hard-earned reputation but represents our industry-leading performance on the road,” said Michael Accavitti, a senior vice president of American Honda, in a statement.
According to this article, “The claim is based on data from stats keepers Polk, which looked at auto registrations by brand from 1988 to 2012. It does not include Honda’s Acura brand, which is part of the 11% of cars over the period that fall into the luxury category.”
Closer to home at Northwest Honda, we know for a fact that people consider Hondas because of their incredible longevity and resale value.
“People want Hondas because they know they keep their value if they want to resell it down the road,” said Tony Carter, general manager at Northwest Honda dealership in Bellingham. “If they have no plans to resell and want to pass the car down to their kids to drive or something, Honda is also the best choice. It’s great to see these stats back up what we see every day.”

Honda vehicles are the most durable and longest lasting of any mainstream automotive brand, according to Polk vehicle registration statistics from 1988-2012. No other mainstream brand had a greater percentage of vehicles on the road than the Honda brand. In the mainstream segment, an industry best 75% of all Honda vehicles sold in the last 25 years were still on the road.
“One of the most important considerations for a new vehicle purchase is how long that vehicle will last and this study demonstrates that Honda quality and reliability is not just part of our hard-earned reputation but represents our industry-leading performance on the road,” said Michael Accavitti, senior vice president of automobile operations for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. ”If consumers want the most durable, longest lasting mainstream brand, Honda vehicles are the clear choice.”
The quality and reliability of Honda vehicles is a major factor in their long-standing leadership in earning key industry value awards. For instance, for the second year in a row, Honda won ALG’s top honor of Best Mainstream Brand in its annual Residual Value Awards for vehicles that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year period. Honda has won the top honor more than any other automaker—a record 8 out of 11 years they’ve awarded a mainstream brand. In 2013, Honda also earned multiple awards for individual models for Best Resale Value from KBB.com and Best Retained Value from Edmunds.com.
Honda News YOU Can Use!
Kelly Blue Book and ALG (formerly known as Automotive Lease Guide) have named Honda as one of the best brands for resale value! In fact, ALG declared Honda to be the best mainstream brand when it comes to selling your car.
According to this article, “Toyota, Audi and Honda captured the most segment honors due to the consistent high value of all their products,” said Larry Dominique, president of ALG. “Honda was named top Mainstream Brand due to their prudent use of (sales) incentives – $1,000 lower than the mainstream average – and low rental fleet penetration.”
So if you care about resale value, then be sure to consider a Honda when you purchase your next car. Or, if you’re in the market for a quality pre-owned vehicle, then, naturally, a Honda should be at the top of your list.
“Whether it’s new or used, Hondas are well-known for their quality, reliability, and dependability,” said Tod McLauglin of Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee. “Honda has such an incredible record for this that it’s natural we’d be at the top of the “Best Resale Value” brand list. It’s a great honor to be recognized for that.”
