Three Video Reviews of 2013 Honda Civic

We love video reviews. Why? Because it’s more fun to watch a review than read it and it’s really helpful to see what the reviewer is talking about as the video shows us. So, we were tickled when we found this article with three different reviews of the 2013 Honda Civic.

The consensus? The 2013 Honda Civic is even better than the 2012 Honda Civic, which was one of the best-selling cars of 2011. You owe it yourself to check out the “fun to drive” 2013 Honda Civic if you need a compact car or love the Civic.

“The 2013 Honda Civic is one of the most popular cars we have,” said Keith Hofkamp of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “It’s compact, great gas mileage, drives really responsively and is fun!”

Stop by Sims Honda, Northwest Honda in Bellingham, or Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee to take the 2013 Honda Civic for a test drive and find out why the 2013 Honda Civic is the best one yet!

2013 Honda Civic Si Video Review

The 2013 Honda Civic is a new and improved hit with critics and consumers. Here is an honest, short video review of the 2013 Honda Civic Si.

Some of the highlights include the fact that the 2013 Honda Civic Si is “closer to an Acura than Honda” because of its 6-speed manual transmission and the fact that it goes zero to 60 mph in about six seconds. This driver also notes that the interior of the 2013 Honda Civic is Si is very nice inside with comfortable design and seating.

If performance is important to you, than you’ll be interested to know that the 2013 Honda Civic Si has great maneuverability and braking. According to this reviewer, you will “feel like you’re a part of the car.”

True, it’s 201 horsepower engine may not be all that impressive, but on such a small car and with such great design, you don’t really need all those horses to get the performance you want.

“The 2013 Honda Civic Si is a great, contributing member to the Honda Civic family,” said Tod McLaughlin of Apple Valley Honda. “Each member of the Honda Civic family has something different for different drivers. The 2013 Honda Civic Si is a fantastic car for people who really care about performance and really want to be able to zip around. You really have to drive it to understand it, so if you’re interested, stop by and take one for a drive.”

Another aspect of becoming a Honda Civic Si owner was also noted by the reviewer: the fantastic reliability and dependability of Hondas! Honda owners know there is no need for Honda offer super-extended warranties because they build their products to last! Point in case, I’ve driven my 2009 Honda Accord into the ground (how about almost 120,000 miles in 4 years) and have only ever had to do regular maintenance on it.

Anyone who is interested in a compact car that has solid performance should stop by Apple Valley Honda, Northwest Honda, or Sims Honda dealership to take a 2013 Honda Civic Si for a ride today!

Honda CR-V vs Chevy Equinox

There are a lot of quality crossovers in production right now and two of the most popular vehicles are the 2013 Honda CR-V and the Chevy Equinox. This article does a good job of comparing the two and, wouldn’t you know, the Honda CR-V comes out on top.

Both of these vehicles tend to attract families or couples who need to move stuff around (like dogs, camping equipment, etc.), so I’ll start with the most important comparison: storage.

“The center console of the Honda CR-V provides ample storage room that is easily within reach of the driver and front passenger that makes a great place to store maps or anything that may need to be accessed quickly and easily. The Honda crossover also has plenty of space for larger items. First, the rear seats can be folded nearly flat using a one-touch, spring-loaded lever that is easy to get to and operate. When the seats are folded down, the 2013 Honda CR-V has nearly 80 cubic feet of cargo space. The Chevy Equinox comes in with only 63.7 cubic-feet. ”

The next most important thing is probably gas mileage, which is comparable between the two. The CR-V bests the Chevy Equinox by 1 mpg city driving (23 mpg) and its a draw at 30 mpg highway. But when you add in the reliability and dependability of Honda, there’s really no comparison.

“The 2013 Honda CR-V is truly the best in its class,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “It’s a crossover that has as much storage as you could hope for. It’s easy, intuitive, fun to drive, and, well, it’s a great alternative for those families who don’t want to buy a minivan. And most families are on a budget, so you can’t argue with that gas mileage.”

Stop by Sims Honda, Northwest Honda, or Apple Valley Honda dealerships today so you can see exactly how big the 2013 Honda CR-V is and how it can do more than just transport kids to and from soccer practice.

Honda Voluntarily Recalls CR-V, Odyssey

Honda announced that is voluntarily recalling more than 225,000 Honda CR-Vs and Honda Odyssey minivans from the 2012 and 2013 model years. Also effected by the recall is the 2013 Acura RDX SUV.

According to this article, “Honda says the device that stops drivers from shifting out of park without a foot on the brake may not work properly, particularly in below-freezing temperatures.”

“If you have any questions about this recall or the safety of your vehicle, please call us,” said Tod McLaughlin, general manager of Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee. “Honda’s first priority is safety and so is ours, so we want to fix this for you if there’s a problem.”

Honda will notify owners by mail by mid-May.

If you own a 2012 or 2013 Honda CR-V or Odyssey, do not hesitate to contact the professional staff at Apple Valley Honda, Sims Honda, or Northwest Honda.

“Admirable” Honda Accord Made Even Better With 2013 Model

We never get tired of reading awesome reviews of the 2013 Honda Accord. This review does nice, honest job if listing the 2013 Honda Accord’s specs and comparing to other models like the Toyota Camry, but the last paragraph says it all:

The folks at Honda did a great job of making the already admirable Accord even better in 2013. The combination of appearance, performance, convenience and reliability will definitely keep the Accord remain at or near the top of this highly competitive segment.”

We have mentioned many times the technology that comes standard on all 2013 Honda Accords, including the backup camera and LaneWatch blind spot camera, but this article does a great job of describing the interior and experience of the 2013 Honda Accord.

“There is no doubt that if you come to Northwest Honda and take the 2013 Honda Accord for a test drive, you will be impressed with the quality of materials and design in the interior of the car,” said John Clough, sales manager at Northwest Honda dealership in Bellingham, Washington. “Potential buyers will also be interested to know there is V6 engine option, which is an option that is disappearing in the industry.”

Here is some bullet point information from the article we think would be helpful in convincing you that the 2013 Honda Accord is the car for you:

  • “Performance: 2.4-liter, four-cylinder, 185 horsepower; 3.5-liter, V6, 278 horsepower
  • Mileage estimate range: 21-36 mpg
  • Price: $21,680 to $33,430
  • Warranty: 3years/36,000 miles; drivetrain 5 years/60,000 miles; corrosion 5 year/unlimited”

Honda Claims 2 of Top 10 Hottest Selling Cars in U.S.

The Honda Civic and Honda Accord cracked the top ten of the hottest selling cars according to this article from AOL Autos.

The Honda Accord ranked fifth overall selling more than 36,000 cars just in the month of March!

“The 2013 Honda Accord is a hit,” said Keith Hofkamp of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington, Washington. “And for good reason. The technology you get standard with even the base model of the 2013 Honda Accord is really impressive. All models come with the backup camera and LaneWatch (blind spot) camera in addition to some other really great features. It drives great and, of course, it gets impressive Honda gas mileage. Really, it’s no surprise the 2013 Honda Accord is flying off lots.”

Also, helping the 2013 Honda Accord get major sales is the fact that it starts at just around $20,000. It gets an estimated 24 city/34 highway mpgs.

The Honda Civic drove in at number 10 on the Hottest Selling Cars list moving almost 28,000 vehicles off dealership lots last month.

“The 2013 Honda Civic is a great commuter car,” Hofkamp said. “It gets 28 mpgs with city driving and 36 mpgs on the highway. It’s a great, compact car at a great price.”

The 2013 Honda Civic starts at just around $18,000.

Honda Accord, Civic Most Stolen Cars

The Honda Accord and Honda Civic are the top two most stolen and recovered vehicles in 2012 in the United States, according to a new LoJack Corp. study.

This is the Honda Accord’s third year at the #1 spot. The Honda Civic moved up to the #2 spot and the Toyota Camry fell to #3.

Why are the Honda Accords and Honda Civics the most stolen? It’s not that complicated, according to the writer of this article:

“The reason these cars top the list is an obvious one — these are popular models. But D.J. Thompson, director of law enforcement at LoJack, tells me that these cars aren’t just on the top of the list because there are more of them on the road than most other makes and models.”

Basically, Honda makes awesome cars, so more people buy them, which means more people steal them because there is a bigger market.

“It’s true, the Honda Accord and Honda Civic are some of the most stolen vehicle, but only because it they are two of the best and, therefore, most popular vehicles, on the road,” said Tod McLaughlin, general manager of Apple Valley Honda in Apple Valley. “In a way, it’s rather flattering.”

I guess there is a dark side to being some of the best-selling cars in the market. But should that scare people away? The writer of the article has experience with this exact issue when his own 1997 Honda Civic was stolen and here’s what he said:

“So did I abandon Honda for a less innocuous brand? Nope. They’re reliable, efficient. I’m comfortable with them. But my new car is a Honda Fit. At least that model’s not on LoJack’s top 10 list — yet.”

That’s right, Honda’s reliability and efficiency keep this loyal customer coming back even after he’s had a taste of the dark side of popularity.

Honda Odyssey Steals New York Auto Show with New Functional Feature

We read about a lot of really cool gadgets and features automobile manufactures put in their vehicles, so it takes a lot to get us a THIS excited about what Honda put in the new Honda Odyssey. Any guesses? Ok, we’ll tell you because we just can’t keep it to ourselves any longer:

A vacuum!

We know, we know. It sounds rather lame until you pause to think about how wonderful it would really be to have a vacuum right there in your car!

We all know you have arrived at adulthood when you started getting excited about things like new appliances, new socks, and other ‘mundane’ items. Equally so, you know you have arrived at parenthood when you are driving around in a minivan, which by many accounts is not so exciting (unless it’s the Honda Odyssey, which can really move). However, Honda has managed to combine the seemingly not so cool minivan with excitement over seemingly mundane things and made REALLY cool and functional feature.

And it’s not just us parents who are excited about the possibility of not having to haul the vacuum out to the car or stop at a car wash every time a kid steps on a mountain of spilled fish crackers. EVERYONE at the New York International Auto Show was crowded around  to see the vacuum, which, according to this article, stole the show!

The article points out that the Honda Odyssey didn’t change much from the previous version (and why would it? It’s the best-selling and highest quality minivan in the industry), except for the new vacuum that acts like a central vacuum system in many new homes.

“You plug the hose onto the wall and start cleaning. Honda spokesman Chris Martin demonstrated the machine’s speed at picking up Fruit Loops and  fragments of Goldfish crackers. The hose is long enough to reach every corner of the interior and can also be used to clean another car parked nearby.”

What do you think? Is the fact that Honda ingeniously included a vacuum in the Honda Odyssey big news?

Drive a Honda, Use the HOV Lane

A new report stated that Honda makes the most cars that can legally drive in California’s HOV lanes with only a driver in the vehicle.

Why? Because Honda makes the most gosh-darn environmentally friendly vehicles.

According to the California Air Resources Board, Honda makes four vehicles that meet its air quality standards to be eligible to use the carpool lane even when there’s only one occupant. The four vehicles are:

  • The Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid. The 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid sedan has a EPA driving range of 570 miles with an EPA rating of 115 MPGe, a standard used to measure the combined efficiency of an electric vehicle.
  • The Honda Civic Natural Gas. The 2012 Civic Natural Gas (CNG) has an EPA of 31 MPG.
  • The Honda Fit EV, which has an EPA rating of 118 MPGe with an EPA driving range of 82 miles.
  • The FCX Clarity, which has a EPA rating of 60 MPEe with an EPA driving range of 240 miles.

This article points out that using the HOV lane in California can shave 30 minutes off your commute where a ten mile drive can often take 30 to 40 minutes. That is DEFINITELY something we can relate to if you’ve ever hit Seattle traffic during rush hour or there is an accident in one of the two through lanes in downtown Seattle. The HOV lane is your friend in the Puget Sound area!

“The average annual five year fuel savings of the Honda Accord Plug-In, Honda Civic CNG and Honda Fit EV is about $7,783.  The fuel savings for the FCX Clarity haven’t been released.”

If you care about the environment, saving money and getting around faster (sounds pretty good right?), then be sure to stop by Apple Valley Honda, Sims Honda, or Northwest Honda dealerships today. Not all of these vehicles may be available in Washington state yet, but no doubt any of them would make a big difference in your life and your budget.
