Consumer Reports recently got their first drive of the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and called it worthy of the ‘Accord’ name. Now that’s saying something.
Here’s what else Consumer Reports had to say: “Overall, marrying its slick hybrid technology to the already capable Accord and at a reasonable price is good news. It would be great if Honda were to use this system for its other so-called hybrid vehicles.”
Consumer Reports was equally impressed by the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid’s power and gas mileage. Not very often do you find good power and great gas mileage going together. In fact, it gets 196 hp and a combined 47 mpg.
“No matter how you slice it, the Hybrid’s powertrain is slick. The car sets off decisively, gliding on abundant electric-motor torque. Transitions between electric-only and gas-assisted power are barely perceptible. And unlike other hybrids, the brake pedal feels natural and linear despite its regenerative-braking duties. No learning curve needed.”

The US News and World Report website did a thorough study of the best compact SUVs on the market and the 2014 Honda CR-V is definitely at the top of its class.
- #2 in Affordable Compact SUV
- #1 in Affordable Compact SUVs with 2nd row
- #2 in Affordable Crossover SUV
“The 2014 truly is one of the compact SUVs money can buy,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager at Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “It’s roomy, versatile, and gets good gas mileage. It’s also one of the, if not the, safest compact SUVs on the market.”
That’s what we’re saying, but here’s what everyone else is saying:
- Roomy, fuel-efficient and loaded with family-friendly features, the 2014 Honda CR-V is our top choice among compact crossover SUVs.” –Edmunds
- “The 2014 Honda CR-V sails into the new year with little changed, not that one of the best-selling compact SUVs on the market needed changing.” – Kelley Blue Book
- “CR-V continues to excel for its “just-right” blend of comfort, refinement, passenger room, and cargo versatility. It’s competitively priced, too.” — Consumer Guide (2013)
- “Some of its competitors lean on styling and upmarket features to appeal to customers, but Honda is relying on the core strengths of its product. As a package, the CR-V remains pretty unbeatable. That certainly won’t come as a surprise to existing CR-V owners.” – Automobile Magazine (2012)

As this article points out, many people don’t think minivans are cool, so being the “undisputed king of the minivans” may be like being declared king of the geeks in high school.
Then again, maybe not. I mean, just check out this video review by KickingTires.com and you’ll see how COOL the Honda Odyssey really is.

The mid-size sedan market is one of the toughest markets in the automotive industry. But only one has made Car and Driver’s 10 Best Cars list 27 years in a row: the Honda Accord.
And the 2014 Honda Accord continues that tradition by being named as the best mid sized sedan by many critics and consumers. In this press release, they even did a comparison of the 2014 Honda Accord and Ford Fusion. Here’s what they came up with:
“The larger size of the Accord comes with a justifiable weight increase, but the higher-output engine is able to compensate for it. The Honda Accord is capable of 185 horsepower where the Ford Fusion only has an output of 160 horsepower. Consumers are sure to enjoy that the larger size doesn’t cause the fuel economy to suffer. Though only a difference of 1 MPG in each cycle, the Accord still beats out the Fusion with a 36 MPG highway/27 MPG city rating.”
The 2014 Honda Accord is also better for families and those with a lot of “stuff” because it is a “substantial” 12 cubic feet bigger, with more head and leg room for everyone.

We are very excited to announce that the much anticipated 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is headed to production to the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio! This means it should be on local dealership lots like Apple Valley Honda, Northwest Honda, and Sims Honda later this year.
“We are extremely excited to get the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid,” said Keith Hofkamp, general manager of Sims Honda dealership in Burlington. “We think this vehicle will appeal to a lot of people for a couple reasons. One, because it’s an Accord and will have the performance and reliability of an Accord. Two, because the Accord hybrid gets 50 miles per gallon the freeway and 45 city driving.”
According to this article, “The 2014 Accord Hybrid combines the sophisticated exterior styling and spacious interior packaging of the Accord Sedan with a highly efficient two-motor hybrid system from Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology advanced powertrain series.”
“Even before it hits showrooms this fall, the Accord Hybrid is already surpassing the competition and claiming segment leadership,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of auto operations at American Honda. “For customers looking for a 50 mpg rated 4-door sedan, there is no other choice than the 2014 Accord Hybrid.”

It’s no secret. We adore the built-in vacuum in the 2014 Honda Odyssey. We love the idea. We love the commercials. It’s just fabulous.
But does it really work.
According to Consumer Reports, it does.
We’re sure many people would expect a vacuum built into the vehicle itself not to work as well as a “real” vacuum, which is something Consumer Reports wanted to test.
What they found was that the vacuum in the 2014 Honda Odyssey “really cleans up.” Here’s what they said: “The bottom line. Honda’s built-in vacuum is a worthy addition to an impressive van.”

The 2014 Honda Fit EV is an electric vehicle that just about anyone can love. It gets 188 MPGe and can go 82 miles on a full charge; that’s more than enough to get you around town or even a quick jaunt down the highway. That’s a big deal considering the national average is 16 miles per trip.
Sheesh. That will barely get to you Costco and back. But we digress.
According to this press release, “A highlight of the 2014 Honda Fit EV is the short charging time. From the low-charge indicator light point, the Honda Fit EV is capable of charging in three hours or less when using a 240-volt circuit. That’s a full hour faster than Ford’s 2014 Focus Electric using the same voltage. As charging time is typically one of the biggest concerns for consumers looking to buy electric, the Honda Fit EV is likely to come out on top.”
And you don’t need to worry about what happens if you find you need a charge while you’re out and about, there are currently more than 6,100 charging stations around the country.
“Driving an all-electric vehicle is not what it used to be,” said Tod McLaughlin, general manager. “If you’ve ever been intrigued by an EV, but not felt entirely comfortable with it, the Honda Fit EV may be the perfect car for you. Honda and the Honda Fit are incredibly reliable, so you can have that same confidence in the EV technology.”

There are many, many features in the 2014 Honda Odyssey to love. But probably one of my favorite (besides the space and safety features) is the built in vacuum.
Who’s not so fond of it? The ‘spokescrumbs’ in the new commercials for the 2014 Honda Odyssey. You can see three different spots featuring the voices of Neil Patrick Harris and Rainn Wilson as the ‘lovable’ goodies that left behind by children.
As a mom who has plenty of ‘lovable’ spokescrumbs in the backseat of her 2009 Honda Accord, I am beyond excited about the built-in vacuum. And the new commercials.
